Dear Vivian {Month 23}

Happy 23 months, Sweet, Funny, Giggle-licious Vivian.

Yes, dear, that's your belly button.

Casually disgruntled that I keep putting you back on the brown chair for just one more photo after you keep wiggling off.

Ahhh, sit back and relax.

Happy 23 months, sweet daughter of mine. This month: you are continuing to pull up on everything. You go down the front steps independently on your tummy like your PT and I practice with you. You climb back up the steps independently and gleefully. You like to walk down to the sidewalk with your pushtoy to visit the blooming gardenias. We usually pick one; sometimes we give it to a neighbor we've stopped to chat with and sometimes we bring it in to put on the kitchen windowsill. You will take a few steps holding onto just one of my hands, but you still prefer the stability of my two hands. You continue to love: Baby Beyonce (she often accompanies us on walks and in the car) - you kiss and cuddle her so naturally and sweetly; music (you ask for it each morning - the Weepies, Regina Spektor, Feist, Innocence Mission are the soundtrack to our days); books, books and more books; being outside airplane and bird and car and neighbor watching.
ASL signs this month: I like, Vivian, sandwich
Spoken words this month: Wow!, I love you, airplane, knee, lion, hello ( in context of playing "phone"), ant, paper, Granny, bubbles, home, elephant, dirty

9 minutes {July 9, 2009 7:32 PM}
It's finger paint time. (Homemade finger paint recipe here. I needed to use more water than the recipe called for, and it was still pretty thick.) I set it all up and strip you down to your diaper. It's time to let loose - but you're not so sure about this stuff on your hands.

Dad comes home and helps out a little.

You sign "cold" as the breeze picks up, even though it's still pretty warm outside.

9 minutes are up.

And we headed directly here:

I had sensory issues as a child, and I hated finger painting, my teachers called my parents in for a conference. I can still almost gag thinking about the cold slimy paint and the smell. Yuck :) I hope Miss V loves it, I never have!!

i think we have the same foam letters - i spent quite a bit of time sticking them together to form different kinds of boats (i think i played with them more than my children)..but it does make them look like they are bathing in alphabet soup...and kids are so darn edible that it just makes sense!

Soooooo cute!
You are getting so big, Vivian! It's magical and so enjoyable to watch!

Thanks for the link to the fingerpaint recipe, Hannah! I must try that! :-) Although I think I will do it on a day that John's off so that I have a second set of hands for clean-up! :-)

Love all the pics :-) I just want to eat that sweet, expressive face up! :-)
