Because of a busy morning driving to speech therapy during the inauguration hour, we TIVO'd it and watched the special event as a family tonight. I made the Obama Family Chili recipe for dinner (delicious). Raspberries and blueberries were dropped into little glasses of champagne so Vince and I could raise a glass in celebration of this momentous day in history. And I loved the end of Elizabeth Alexander's poem, read during the ceremony:
What if the mightiest word is love, love beyond marital, filial, national. Love that casts a widening pool of light. Love with no need to preempt grievance.
In today's sharp sparkle, this winter air, anything can be made, any sentence begun.
On the brink, on the brim, on the cusp -- praise song for walking forward in that light.
