Road Trip!

Vivian and I hit the open road again on Friday. We dropped Vince off at SFO (bachelor party in Vegas) and headed north.

We stopped in Marin County to visit my dear friend Johanna. I met her in the credential program at SFSU and despite the fact that we each keep moving farther south and north, respectively, we've keep in touch. I'm so thankful for that. Her lovely daughters provided Vivian's first bubble blowing extravaganza.

Up the 101 to Auntie Sarah and Tio Tato in Petaluma (on the 2008 list).

Saturday began at the most lovely bakery downtown. An au lait served in a big ol' latte bowl; a sticky bun oozing with deliciousness; fresh baked bread with poached eggs and slivers of gruyere. Every little detail made it divine. You'd love it.

Sarah and I drove with Vivian out to Pt. Reyes and Inverness on Tomales Bay. It was a gorgeous, albeit fresh day. Definitely a Cloud Watching Society day. We took Vivian to Heart's Desire Beach on the bay, but even with her face towards me in the Bjorn, Miss Thang was not having it. So it ended up being a quick walk up and down the beach. We ate fresh apples and pears, bread and cheese in front of Toby's Feed Barn.

I'm slightly obsessed with this one room schoolhouse on the road from Petaluma to Pt. Reyes. I'm thinking it strikes a chord with the Anne of Green Gables in me.

Tio Tato returned from a business trip and we all went out to dinner.

Sunday morning came quickly. Sarah had a meeting in Oakland, so Renato took Vivian and me for a delicious breakfast at their favorite downtown diner. YUM.

A drive down the 101, back across the Golden Gate, and a stop in San Francisco to visit with Auntie JenJen. It was one of those golden days in the city--crisp and bright and near perfect. We sat at the Palace of Fine Arts with snacks and people watched and chatted. Vivian was all smiles.

Kept going south on 101, stopping at SFO to pick up Vince, then home again, home again, jiggety jig.
